Titanique Sailing to Broadway This Spring, Starring Marla Mindelle – TheaterMania.com
The sudden closing of The Queen of Versailles has sparked an unexpected Broadway leap: Titanique, the off-Broadway spoof of Titanic set to Céline Dion’s hit songs, will kick off a 16-week engagement at the St. James Theatre, with previews beginning March 26 and a formal opening night slated for April 12.
The project is co-created by Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli, and director Tye Blue, who initially unveiled Titanique off-Broadway in June 2022 at Asylum Theater. The production later moved to the Daryl Roth Theatre in November 2022, earning the Lucille Lortel and Off-Broadway Alliance awards for Best New Musical. After concluding its off-Broadway run earlier this year, Titanique has toured to audiences around the world.
Mindelle, who originated the role of Céline Dion on stage, will reprise the performance on Broadway; additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The Broadway team also includes choreographer Ellenore Scott, music supervisor/arranger/orchestrator Nicholas James Connell, scenic designers Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Lauchbacher for Iron Bloom Creative Production, costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer Paige Seber, sound designer Lawrence Schober, and hair and wig designer Charles G. LaPointe.
In its initial Asylum run in 2022, our critic described Titanique as “undoubtedly the summer’s gayest new musical.”
Titanique is currently planned to close on July 12, 2026.
